OSINT Training Log: Protecting Cyber Patrols in Central Luzon

Camp Olivas, Pampanga, Philippines – July 2025

For those on the front line, the fight against cybercrime can be dangerous.  

OSINT Industries delivered specialised safety training to the newly-formed Cyber Patroller & Tracker Team of Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) at Camp Olivas, Pampanga. Led by our specialist trainer Nathan Rogue (@nthgnx6842), the session gave officers the practical skills, investigative techniques, and operational security knowledge they need to stop offenders operating online - whilst keeping themselves safe. 

Mission Objective: Protecting Those Who Serve Online

Operational security (OpSec), is one of the core principles of policing; even in the offline age, keeping the facts of an investigation secret was key. Yet today’s poor OpSec doesn’t just jeopardise cases, but can put a whole department in danger.

Cybercriminals shake down departments with ransomware, and even demand cash to unscramble their target’s data. Worse, ‘wipers’ can even erase case files if they find they’re being followed. So if the new PRO3 team was to succeed in its fight against online crime, it needed a solid OpSec foundation. 

Training Highlights

The training covered:

• OSINT Fundamentals: Modern intelligence gathering techniques
• Global Case Studies: Real-world examples of cases cracked with OSINT
• Investigative Workflows: Protocols for handling digital evidence
• Operational Security (OpSec): Best practices for secure online investigations

All the OpSec techniques the trainees were taught came with law enforcement-specific examples drawn from our many success stories. Drawing on these global case studies made the theoreticals of OpSec practical - so this new unit could start their real-world work on solid ground.

Operational Impact and Trainer Evaluation

Since the training, the PRO3 Cyber Patroller & Tracker Team has gone from strength to strength. In February, they reported the arrest of their 10 most wanted fugitives within 72 hours of beginning the hunt; a testament to the solid skill-base they built at the beginning. By strengthening their OpSec protocols with robust training, the PRO3 team is best equipped to persist through the challenges of modern crime fighting.
